What is Ignite your PATH to Employment?
Pioneer Resources’ Ignite your PATH to Employment is an 8-day program offering students ages 16-26 the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be successful in the workplace. This two-week experience will not only focus on Work Readiness and Self-Advocacy Skills, but will include Job Exploration and Work-Based Learning Experiences needed to launch their journey toward finding and maintaining employment. Along with learning these great skills, all participants completing Ignite your PATH to Employment will receive a Lenovo Tablet, which is theirs to keep!
The first week of Ignite your PATH to Employment will be held at Pioneer Trails, our beautiful camp on Blue Lake. In addition to the hands-on learning, student campers can participate in fun camp activities like swimming, pontoon boat rides, nightly camp fires, crafts, new friendships, and a surprise event the final night of camp!
In the second week of Ignite your PATH to Employment, students get the opportunity to put their week-one learning into action by participating in tours, job shadows, and informational interviews with businesses on Western Avenue in downtown Muskegon! The program hours for this week are 9:00am – 3:00pm, and daily transportation will be provided to the work sites. Week two will also include some classroom learning at Disability Network West Michigan, where students will continue to sharpen their workplace readiness and self-advocacy skills including goal setting, problem solving, and exploring disability disclosure and accommodations requests.
