a place to work >>

As an affirmative, community-based employer, Pioneer Resources strives for an integrated work force, creating opportunities for persons with barriers to employment. Additionally, we offer individuals a chance to learn a skill or develop worker characteristics that will help them enter the work force.

Pioneer Resources can assist in several ways.

Food Service Training

Students learn in a realistic production setting the steps of food preparation, sanitation procedures, food handling and customer service. These skills prepare trainees for jobs in hospitals, nursing homes, schools and restaurants. Students can also earn a recognizable ServSafe® Certification, which lets prospective employers know their new employee is an expert in food handling.

The Coastline Deli is the pinnacle of the agency’s food service operations. Click here for information about the Coastline Deli.

ServSafe® Training

ServSafe® is a food safety education and training program which is recognized and accepted by more federal, state and local health jurisdictions than any other food safety program. The curriculum emphasizes protecting against foodborne illness outbreaks, minimizing insurance costs, reducing liability risks and improving food quality.

Pioneer Resources can train at your site or classes may be held in the Pioneer Resources’ training facility. Contact us for further information.

Skill Building

Pioneer Resources' skill building program is aptly named PLUS for People Learning Useful Skills. It is designed to serve people with cognitive impairments and/or physical disabilities. PLUS exists to help people increase self-awareness, find their potential, and gain knowledge about the community in which they live.

Everyone in PLUS engages in meaningful activities such as volunteering, taking classes, and exploring business and cultural sites within the community. In addition to preparing participants for employment, the program emphasizes physical wellness through low-impact exercise. Contact us for more information about the benefits of participation.

Custodial Training

Pioneer Resources provides custodial services for school districts, private corporations and other nonprofits in the greater Muskegon area. Those hoping to pursue a job in custodial services will work side-by-side with experienced trainers. Our crews are well trained and take pride in doing quality work. Permanent jobs and seasonal opportunities are available.
